Customer service

Langan's Bistro is probably my favourite restaurant. The food is good, the menu changes frequently, the staff is friendly, and the environment is cozy. I've been eating here almost on a weekly basis for over a year. As usual, after a relaxing meal Paulo brings me the bill and I hand him my trusty credit card - the same one I've been using for over three years. But tonight when he swiped the card, the transaction was denied. Swiped again, declined again. I thought maybe I had gone over my limit, but that couldn't be the case since the automatic payment debited my bank account just a few days ago. Without any cash, I decided to call the credit card company. The conversation went something like this:

Operator: How may I help you?
me: I'm trying to use my card, but the transaction was declined. Can you tell me what's wrong?
Operator: Certainly. Just one moment while I look into this.
me: ::whistles to myself::
Operator: I see you tried to make a purchase of $24.75. Your available balance is only 10 pounds.
me: OK, maybe the payment hasn't cleared yet. Is there anything you can do to help me?
Operator: No, sorry. There is nothing I can do.
me: Can you increase my credit?
Operator: Certainly. Just one moment while I look into this.
me: ::whistles to myself::
Operator: I can raise your credit by a maximum of 1500 pounds. Should I do that for you?
me: ok
Operator: The request has been forwarded to the credit department. They will perform a credit check and be in touch with you in 2 business days. Is there anything else I can do for you?
me: Wait! I'm not going to stand in this restaurant for 2 days and wait. I just need 15 pounds. Is there anything you can do to help me??
Operator: No, sorry. There is nothing I can do.
me: Can you increase my credit by a lesser amount to avoid the credit check?
Operator: Certainly. Just one moment while I look into this.
me: ::whistles to myself::
Operator: I can raise your credit by 500 pounds. Should I do that for you?
me: ok
Operator: The request has been forwarded to the credit department. They will perform a credit check and be in touch with you in 2 business days. Is there anything else I can do for you?
me: Wait! This doesn't help me! Is there anything you can do that'll actually help me now?!
Operator: No, sorry. There is nothing I can do.

I thought it was going to be one of those funny customer service conversations. Like the one where someone impersonates Arnold Schwartzaneggar. Also, you left out what happened after.... so how many dishes did you have to wash to get out of the restaurant?
